pittsburgh's, um, finest?

my friend and fellow blogger moon called my attention to the protest in oakland on saturday at the army recruitment center. (because apparently i live in a bubble.) there was some serious shit going down on the police misconduct front. here are some relevant links:

a post from the pittsburgh indy media center site
a really disturbing video, also at pgh indy media, showing a rabid police officer and his taser
an article from yesterday's post-gazette

and people wonder why cops have a bad reputation...

(hat tip)

Yeah - what the fuck is up the the Pittsburgh PD, don't they know that this isn't the '68 convention and this isn't Chicago, they can't just go around beating the hell out of protesters.

That is some total bs. We wouldn't want someone to inhibit army recruiting. We must use all means necessary to ensure such access, including excessive force and sadistic use of tasers and police dogs. After all, how would we otherwise get these types of people to sign up?

"Military service isn't for our son," she told Rivera. "It isn't for our kind of people."
