katrina's racial divide...

not a lot of time to post right now, but i wanted to put up this link, to a CNN article on a USA today/CNN/gallup poll on the government's response to katrina. here's the really fun part:
The poll found that six in 10 blacks interviewed said the federal government was slow in rescuing those stranded in New Orleans after Katrina because many of the people in the Louisiana city were black. But only about one in eight white respondents shared that view.
how can anyone deny that this has something to do with race? even if only in its fallout...

But you don't have to be some Klanster to think that the response to Katrina was a massive clusterfuck because of government incompetence, not because of the race of those stranded. If it had been white folk on those roofs, FEMA & co. would have been just as useless.

but the fact is that it wasn't all white people on the rooftops. it was people who our government thinks are expendable. the massive government response to 9/11 was completely different here because it was the poorest of the poor who for the most part in this situation are black.
